Rick has made a tremendous contribution to Barloworld Handling and its Global HR Function. He led the design and implementation of our new Performance Management program in 5 countries and it is viewed as best practice in the wider Barloworld Group. Rick is an expert change manager and achieved buy-in and support at all levels across different cultures.
Rick designed a coaching and feedback training workshop for our European region. He both led a train the trainer class and also delivered the UK training himself. We truly appreciated Rick’s experience, professionalism and commitment to make this initiative a success. His highly interactive training contained many examples from his own experiences and our managers were highly engaged giving his classes the highest evaluation scores
Rick has worked with us on range of projects, designing and leading courses on communication and influencing skills, chairing and facilitating meetings, and time management. He’s a natural communicator who ‘tunes in’ quickly to the audience and brings his own wealth of experience to bear on the issue at hand. His thoughtfulness and creativity ensures his courses are always thought-provoking and imaginative. He’s also a consummate professional and a pleasure to work with.
Rick’s presentation on Team Roles and Conflict was enthusiastically delivered and very well received by many of the non-English participants at the pharmaceutical conference. They said he was easy to understand, brought great energy into the room and encouraged a lot of audience participation. Before the conference Rick was amenable to our suggestions for topic inclusion and went above the call of duty by setting up a very useful online questionnaire for the participants.
Rick has worked closely with business leaders to design practical and innovative training programmes which have helped us to develop talent and provide outstanding skills training – our Senior level Strategic Leadership Programme is a good example of this. Rick has also supported key business initiatives – facilitating senior level meetings, designing a ‘Steps and Gates’ Project Management Process and managing the outsourcing of UK recruitment with considerable cost savings.
Rick delivered a lively interactive session to the entire school staff about dealing with parents as customers which was clear and interactive throughout and set us up very well for the new term. He also worked with our head pupils, house captains and prefects which made a significant impact on them – and the practical learning was clearly reflected in their positive behaviour as role models.
